Self-Limiting Activity (Grip/Shoulder/Core/Control)
These guys have started from "rolling" to establish mobility, grinded through quadruped crawling, and are now working in the "sitting" phase of primitive pattern work. This a fun, simple, and creative way to challenge patients that are working in the sitting phase.
People train their plank. Getting the spine stable with the hips extended is covered.
When does anyone train stability of the spine with the hips flexed?
Most everyone can be trained to nail the top of the dead lift. The bottom is where things fall apart (especially having to transition from hip flexion to extension under load).
The lesson here is to not use planks too much, challenge the core with the hips on flexion. Try different stances to challenge the body and study how it moves in those different stances. Making the body perform work output can be interesting to see by changing small things such as flexing the hips.
